God’s got more for me to do
Php 1:6
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Intro:
Writer: Apostle Paul
History:This Epistle was written from Rome during the imprisonment
Theme
Joy in the lord in the lord in spite of our circumstances
Truth: God is not passive or remote from his creation, but rather he is dynamically involved in all that he has created
Numbers 23:19 (KJV 1900) — 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
His names speak to his activity
His names reflect his activity and involvement in his people’s lives
Ge 22:14Jehova Jirah “The Lord Will Provide”; Ex 15:26 Jehova Rophi“The Lord, who heals you”; Ex 17:15 “The Lord is my Banner”: this title emphasises that God is like a warrior who champions his people’s cause
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, But it shall accomplish that which I please, And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
The Hebrew for “word” can also be translated “deed” or “action”. God’s word is not merely a communication of abstract truth but a powerful force active in the world.
Opposing view
1. Deism
This view represents the universe as a self-sustained mechanism, from which God withdrew as soon as he had created it, and which he left to a process of self-development
HOOK
And many of us have come to points in our lives where we wondered if God was still with us.
We experience seasons of our lives where we fill distant
Psalms 13:1 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
But I want to remind you that your God Is very much involved in your life
Every breath...every heart beat
23 psalms - David says the lord is my shepherd…..
The steps of a good man are ordered by the lord
This brings me to my text
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
If your believing God for more, the first thing you must do is
Be confident in Jesus
It means to be fully and firmly persuaded or convinced
If we are believing God for more….we must be ready for Satan to try and make us question our very salvation.
You must be Confident in your salvation
1 Jn 4:12–13
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Version., 2 Ti 1:11–12
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
There must be a confidence in Jesus christ
There must be confidence in our new positioning in HIM
Ephesians 2:12
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Ephesians 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Phil 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
When Satan tries to shake your confidence
Remind that devil...That you’ve already been baptized in Jesus name and filled with the precious gift of the holy ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and the spirit gave the utterance
And if the rapture were to take place right now...you’d be caught up!
I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day” (2 Ti. 1:12
If your ready for more, the second thing you must do is recognize that...
The Almighty God has begun a work
“He which hath begun a good work in you.”
Jesus Christ is the “He.”
It means ‘to inaugurate:begin or introduce’, and the tense employed points to a decisive and deliberate act; both the impulsive and the imperfect are ruled out.
Here was something planned and executed to perfection.
The fact that he chose you…
Youre not here by accident
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;
The Holy Bible: King James Version. (2009). (Electronic Edition of the 1900 Authorized Version., Je 1:5). Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.
Arent you glad that He chose to start a work in you!
That fact excites me
He that is omniscient...all knowing
He that is omnipotent… all powerful
Job 26:7 said the this same Jesus Hangeth the earth upon nothing
This same defied he human biological norms and allowed Abrahan to be a father at 100 years old
This same He was in separated the red sea...and allowed his people to walk on dry ground
Paul said in ephesians
Eph 1:19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
In others word his power continues to exceed itself
No one truly knows the depths of his power
It is this HE that has started a good work…..
The good work he started in you has Unlimited potential…Unlimited possibilities ...
Child of God...I challenge you to raise your level of expectation of what God is doing in your life
I declare that you are the head...and not the tail
The above and not beneath
The lender and not the borrower
There are people in your life who are frustrated because you’ve exceeded the expectations they had put on your life…
They never imagined you’d be as blessed as you are
They never imagined that you’d be as anointed as you are
Thats why Paul said:
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
In other words...folks may not like you…..but the reality is, its not you
Its the GOD in you
Its the almighty God that strengthens us
Its is the almighty god who heals us
It is tha almighty god the delivers us
Its the almighty god provides for us
It is not our own doing or our own might
Thats why Paul tells us to be strong IN the Lord and in the power of his might
Jesus will perform it
Perform means to complete, accomplish, execute
Jesus is committed to performing and completing that which he started in your life
Secondly, he who has inaugurated Christian experience undertakes to continue it: He … will bring it to completion; or, since the verb is intensive in form and can here express a continuous sense, ‘will evermore put his finishing touches to it’.
He is if the greatest investor of all times
When he starts something in you, he has the end already in mind
I want to declare to that the real you has yet to bee seen….God has more for you
Ephesians 3:20–21 (KJV 1900) — 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us
Be ye not weary in your well doing for in due season, you shall reap if you faint not
Php 3:12–14
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
