Be Filled - Transformation

For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. What does Transformations look like:

7 things - Bible engagement, Obeying God Denying self, Seeking God, Building Relationships, Serving God/others, Sharing Christ, Exercising faith, Being Unashamed

We like list - some of you were checking things off as I mentioned them

It reminds me of a story in Mark 10

Rich young ruler - had it all

But one thing you lack

We have taught that it is the behaviors that need to change

Modify your behavior - Glorify God. It has been exhausting.

You could check it all off and still feel empty and no power

As you glorify God your behaviors will modify

Turn to 2 Corinthians as we look deep at transformation and it’s requirements

2 Corinthians 3:17–18 CSB

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Mention to Moses - He would meet with God and his face would glow

We are being transformed

Luke 6:40 CSB

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

Spiritual Transformation

How does it happen?

Spiritual Transformation Requires Unhindered Access to Christ.

As followers transformation is going to happen

We can deny, hinder, disobey

We can let the Spirit do His work

Start each day with this prayer

Psalm 139:23–24 CSB

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.

Spiritual Transformation Requires

A. The Word of God

Psalm 119:11 CSB

I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.

You know His voice by knowing His words

Hunger for His word

B. Worship through Prayer

When we truly pray we invite God to invade all of our lives

C. Walk daily in fellowship with the Family of God

Spirit of God that birthed the Church in Acts

not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.

Not just about coming to church but about being active and present when here and in small group

Be Filled

Surrender - is what we are talking about

Not a list of things we do

Let God have your life; He can do more with it than you can.

As we surrender and allow the Spirit to do it’s work that list becomes outflow

I believe we will not know we are doing it:

Sheep and Goats in Matthew 25- judgement of nations but...

That’s transformation - that is what the Spirit does
