Does Life of the Unborn Matter?

I. The Source of Life.

A. Life is a divine gift.

Life comes only from God.

B. Life is fully dependent upon God.

Just as we could not be born without God we need Him to live each moment.

II. The Start of Life.

A. Begins at Conception.

Genesis 3:16 KJV 1900
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
The phrase Bring Forth literally means to place on display. God was telling Eve that she would let everyone see what He already knew. A child is a child even before it is birthed. Women are to bring forth their child.

B. Recognized by God.

Jeremiah 1:5 KJV 1900
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

III. The Significance of Life.

A. It was planned by God.

Job 31:15 KJV 1900
Did not he that made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?
Psalm 139:15–16 KJV 1900
My substance was not hid from thee, When I was made in secret, And curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; And in thy book all my members were written, Which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

B. It has purpose in God.

Proverbs 20:5 KJV 1900
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; But a man of understanding will draw it out.
Philippians 2:12–13 KJV 1900
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

IV. The Christian and Abortion.

A. Remember that Jesus still loves those who have had an abortion.

John 3:16 KJV 1900
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

B. God can forgive and restore.

Romans 10:13 KJV 1900
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

C. We should fight for the innocent.

Psalm 82:3–4 KJV 1900
Defend the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: Rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
Proverbs 24:11–12 KJV 1900
If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, And those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; Doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his works?

D. We should remember that we are not the judge, God is.

Acts 10:42–43 KJV 1900
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
