Let’s see what God says about it.
EXPLANATION (15 min)
Jeremiah 17:5–8 NIV
5 This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. 7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
APPLICATION (15 MIN)
It’s obvious that as Christians we should trust God and not man
What makes it difficult is when we look at circumstances instead of HIM (Peter on the Water)
We don’t know what the future holds but we know WHO holds the future
Here’s what I want you take away from this message:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart

Why trust God?

Trust in God’s power and strength

Exodus 14:31 NKJV
31 Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.
Our own strength can fail. It’s not enough. Israel couldn’t save themselves.

Trust in God’s unfailing love

Psalm 17:7 NKJV
7 Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them.
Human love can fail
Friends of Loree and me that are no longer married

Trust in God’s salvation

Isaiah 12:2 NKJV
2 Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ ”
Satan wants you to doubt that God has saved you.
Saved you from what? Himself! His Wrath. His Judgment

When we trust in God we get:

Peace

Isaiah 26:3–4 NKJV
3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

Security

Proverbs 29:25 NKJV
25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.

Protection from danger

Psalm 91:1–4 NKJV
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

Freedom from fear

Psalm 56:3–4 NKJV
3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. 4 In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

Prosperity

Proverbs 28:25 NKJV
25 He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.
Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.

Strength

Isaiah 40:29–31 NKJV
29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Physical Life

Jeremiah 39:18 NKJV
18 For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’ ”
So What? The Bible tells us clearly what to do
We trust so many things:
planes to stay in the air, the guy driving the semi next to us to stay in his lane, the cook at a restaurant to be clean, etc. But for some reason we struggle to trust God
Talk about Boot and food.
Here’s what I said and what the Bible says.
Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
