Leviticus 27:30

• Deuteronomy 14:22, “Thou shalt truly tithe…”

What does it mean to tithe?

1.) To tithe is to return the first 10% of our income back to God.

• Leviticus 27:30, “A tithe of everything from the land… belongs to the LORD…”
• Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it…”

2.) To tithe is to return to God the first and best so He can bless the rest.

• Proverbs 3:9-10, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops…”

Why should we tithe?

1.) Tithing enables God’s work through the local church.

• Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house…”

2.) Tithing teaches us to put God first in our lives.

• Deuteronomy 14:23, “The purpose of the tithe is to teach you to always put God first in your lives.” (TLB)
• Matthew 23:23, “…You should tithe, yes...” (NLT)

3.) Tithing builds our faith & trust in the one true God.

• Malachi 3:10, “...Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven…”
• 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
