Making Godly Choices

Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Joshua 24:15 NKJV

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

God Created Man with a WILL

We have been given a will to CHOOSE between

Life and death

Blessing and cursing

Our Choices Affect:

Our lives

The lives of our descendants

Sins of the fathers unto the third and fourth generation

Blessings unto a thousand generations

Choices Made in Obedient Bring LIFE and BLESSING (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

Diligently obey the voice of the Lord

Observe carefully all His commandments

Choices Made in Disobedience bring DEATH and CURSING (Deuteronomy 28:15ff)

NOT to obey the voice of the Lord

NOT to observe carefully all His commandments

Choice Moves Us from HEARING to DOING

Matthew 7:24–27 NKJV

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

The difference between the wise and the foolish builder was that one obeyed what he heard and the other did not obey what he heard

It is not in HEARING God’s Word but in DOING God’s Word that Life and Blessing Come

Choices Must Be Made TODAY

Choose this day whom you will SERVE. Make a quality decision to give your life to God completely.

Choose to take up your CROSS: The cross is where the will of man and the will of God come into conflict. Our will must die so that His will may be done.

Choose to REPENT and BELIEVE God’s word of salvation, life and blessing.

Choose to OBEY the voice of the Lord speaking to your heart.

Choose to OBEY the Truth of God’s word, the Bible.

Prayer

“Heavenly Father, I choose this day to serve You and You alone. I choose to give my life into Your service. I willing choose to repent of using the will that You gave to me for the purpose of breaking Your commandments and to disobeying Your voice. Forgive me for my sin, stubbornness and rebellion and cleanse my heart that I may choose to do Your will daily. I deny myself that I may choose to do Your will. From this day forward I make a quality decision to obey Your voice and to keep Your commandments. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.”
