After the Encounter: “Maintaining Your Deliverance”

The Encounter Seminar is an excellent means to experience God’s healing and deliverance in your life.
Jesus died on the cross to set you free once and for all.
There is nothing that the devil can do to keep you from walking out your deliverance so long as you do not give him ground. However, he is sure to plan schemes against you to get your eyes off Jesus once this seminar is over. Therefore, you must make a quality decision to maintain your freedom daily.
This seminar introduced you to Jesus, the Healer and Deliverer. Not only is He the One who sets you free today, but He is also the One who will help you maintain your freedom daily.

How to Maintain Your Deliverance

Submit Yourself Completely under the Lordship of Jesus Christ
You cannot serve God and something else.
Jesus will keep you free so long as you walk under His Lordship.
If you do not follow and obey the Lord, Satan will come and take advantage of you through disobedience and sin.
Remember that Satan works through deception, the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.
Give Satan no place in your heart, soul, and mind.
Make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life.
Live by the motto: No sin, no pride, no compromise, no excuse!
Obey Christ’s Command to be Baptized in Water
If you have never been baptized by immersion after a genuine salvation experience, obey the Lord in this matter right away. Jesus commanded it.
Water baptism represents both a spiritual and emotional break with the past life and an identification with Christ in a new life.
Water baptism is a symbol of God’s ownership.
Talk to your pastor about a time when you can be baptized in water.
If you were baptized in the past but you do not feel that your conversion was genuine, then you too should be baptized.
Develop an intimate relationship with God
Establish a disciplined daily prayer life
Read the Word of God daily
Commune with God throughout the day
Worship the Lord through word and song
Make changes consistent with your deliverance
Get rid of sinful materials
Do not “hang out” with the old crowd. Be a witness to people on a one-on-one basis but stop going to the places that are obviously sinful, surrounded by temptation, and that undermine to your walk with Christ. (Remember: bad company corrupts good morals.
Don’t trust yourself or in your good intentions. The flesh is weak even when the spirit is willing.
Walk in love and forgiveness
Forgive those who hurt you. Remember, offenses will come in this life. Don’t allow them to trip you up. Keep your relationship with God open by always choosing to forgive others as Christ has forgiven you.
Look for ways to do good to those who do evil to you and bless those who curse you. This is God’s way to keep your heart right and reflect the reality of Christ to them.
Be regular in weekly church gatherings
There is no such thing as a “perfect” church. Look for a church that:
Is committed to following Jesus Christ
Is accurately teaching the Word of God
Is regularly preaching the gospel to bring people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Is alive in worship
Is not building upon questionable doctrines
Is not majoring upon questionable experiences
Is filled with God’s love
Is defined by a holy fear and reverence for God.
Jesus is building His church.
This church finds its expression through local churches.
The church is the corporate assembly of believers under the headship of Christ and the leadership of pastors and elders.
Each of us will find God’s purpose for our lives as we get connected to this body. (Example: The eye only realizes it purpose when it is connected to its proper place in the body.)
God has a place in the body of Christ for you to grow and serve Him.
Be faithful to the weekly gatherings of the church for worship, giving, serving, and to receive from the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
Be submitted and accountable to the loving care of God’s shepherds, the pastors and elders of the church, who watch over your soul.
Get involved in small groups within the church
It is difficult to develop relationships with other members of the church in the larger corporate church gatherings. Therefore, small groups are important. They provide a place for growth, fellowship, interaction, accountability, and mentoring.
Get started on the Discipleship Base Path
The Discipleship Base Path is a discipleship training series that includes Christianity 101, Discipleship 201, Leadership 301, and Ministry 401. Be sure to get started by signing up for Christianity 101.
Witness to others regularly
As you witness and talk to others about Jesus and His Word, the things inside of you begin to solidify. Through witness you will identify yourself as a believer and making it harder for the devil to have his way. Revelation 12:11 tell us that we overcome the devil by the word of our testimony.
