SF270 - EXPOSING THE ENEMY (Joshua 6 17-18)
Joshua 6:17,18; 7:1
Introduction
I want to expose Satan for what he is...
The Bible tells us that Satan is the Father of all lies.
(John 8:44) ... for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Satan has a long history of lying:
Ø He lied to man about God:
(Genesis 3:4) "You will not surely die,".
Ø He lied to God about man
(Job 1:11) But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."
Ø He lied to Jesus about himself:
(Matthew 4:8‑9) Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. {9} "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
Satan uses his Four favorite lies on Achan and he is still using them today.
1A. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BELIEVE GOD’S WORD (6:17,18)
1B. Cast Doubt on Its Accuracy
(Genesis 3:1)... He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
Ø "It contains the word of God"
2B. Completely deny Its Authority
(Genesis 3:4) "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.
Spiritualizes God's truth
No literal Hell
3B. Create Disbelief about Its Application
(Genesis 3:5) "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Turn God's protection into man's prohibition.
2A. YOUR SIN ONLY AFFECTS YOU
1B. Tell That To Israel’s Army (7:2‑5)

3A. GOD DOESN’T REALLY JUDGE SIN
God Is Bound To Judge Sin Because…

(Galatians 6:7) Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Achan reaped death by stoning.
Ananias and Sapphira reaped death by the Spirit.
Christians today will reap as we sow
(Hebrews 12:6) because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
(1 John 5:16) If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.
