DOUBLE JEOPARDY

JAMES 4:1-3

INTRODUCTION

Double Jeopardy - You must ask the right questions

We are often motivated by our own selfish desires

This will cause us to ask the wrong questions

We ask the right questions about...

1A.SALVATION

Acts 16:30 (NIV)  He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

Acts 16:31 (NIV)  They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved‑‑you and your household."

1B.We Must Repent Of Our Sins

Acts 3:19 (NIV)  Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out...

2B.We Must Place Our Faith In Jesus

Eph 2:8 (NIV)  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith‑‑and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God‑‑

3B.We Must Surrender To Jesus as Lord

Rom 10:9 (NIV)  That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Rom 10:10 (NIV)  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

2C.God wants to work in and through me now.

3A.OUR SERVICE

What Adjustments Do I Need To Make To Join God?

Luke 14:33 (NIV)  In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.

1B.You cannot stay where you are and go with God at the same time.

Mat 9:9 (NIV)  As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

2B.Obedience is costly to you and those around you.

•Moses and the children of Israel

If Jesus Christ be God and died for me then no sacrifice is too great for me to give for Him.  C.T. Studd (missionary to China, India, and Africa)

3B.Obedience requires total dependance on God to work through you.

John 15:5 (NIV)  "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
