What Will It Take

First let’s see what the meaning of this ten dollar word.

Apostasy is essentially a falling away, withdrawal, or abandonment of Christianity

Do we see this in today’s society?

I am afraid we do

2 Thessalonians 2: 13-17

Who is the Author Paul and co authored also with Timothy.

This letter was written to deal with a problem after Paul left Thessalonica.

You see Paul believed the end of the age would come in the very near future.

Paul’s belief was that the messianic kingdom would be ushered in by a sudden catastrophic event.

At that time the heavenly Messiah would descend on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory

Over time this event never happen and many of the church members died.

Some even went to the extent of believing it was so close they quite doing anything, even their work.

When it did not happen they thought Paul was lying about it. and that is when there was a falling away of the church.

Can we see that in today’s world, sure we can.

We have been told for over two thousands years Jesus is coming.

Well it has not happened yet is what people are saying.

Whey should we believe and go to church when we have been lied to.

I do understand their feeling, I really do.

What they don’t understand is that we are not lying to them because we have not set a date.

That my friend is why Christians are falling away.

It is so hard to witness for Christ today, that a lot of Christians are not doing it anymore.

Even as I am speaking today their are some that believe it could happen

I believe it will happen but not in mans time frame, but in God’s

We should not be so concerned about this as much as we ought to be preparing others for the coming of the Lord.

I don’t think God is finished with America just yet

Sure we are going through some hard times but so did they back in Jesus’s day, amen

Don’t get me wrong, God is not slack concerning His Word in any way or form.

If He says it is going to happen, you can take that to the bank and that settles it, amen.

That is part of the apostacy of the church.

The other part is this world has so much to offer to the Christian.

Yes I said Christians.

We have to hurry home to watch our favorite football team play.

When member would tell me that I needed to shorten my sermon

I would tell them you better learn to record the game cause we ain’t leaving till I get through.

I use to love to watch the game, until the players got to big for their britches, amen.

It is a shame that they get paid millions of dollars to be a kid.

It is a shame that the audience is at the game instead at Church to get their cup full.

Can you imagine if the audience felt about the Church as they do their sports.

Every Church in America would be full and running over.

We need to get our stinking thinking fixed on Jesus Christ and not sports and anything else that might render us from serving God.

Can i get an amen, are you still with me.

What does it say in Hebrews 10:25

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

You think the members of this church are forsaking the assemble

I would think so amen

Every time these Church doors are open, you yes I said you and me should be here every time, amen.

Folks that is not happening

How can we exhort one another if they are not here.

I know you want to sit home and let that one eyed monster entertain you.

This so called streaming of church service is for the birds.

During the snow storm we had and Bro John canceled service

I tired the streaming of Bro. Brain’s Church

You know what, I was up running around doing this and that not getting anything from the sermon.

I could not even tell you what the sermon was about.

That there is some stinking thinking that the devil came up with.
