1A. An Encounter with the Light is an Encounter with the Lord

1B. It is an encounter with His person (John 8:19, 28)

John 14:9 “He who has seen Me has seen the Father”

Today we encounter Jesus through His Word.

2 Peter 1:19 “So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place”

2B. It is an encounter with His purity

His purity is complete (John 8:29)

1 John 1:5 “God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.”

His purity brings conviction of sin (Isaiah 6:1-ff)

3B. It is an encounter with His power (8:12b)

2 Corinthians 4:4, 6 “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God… For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
