MEDITATIONS FOR REVIVAL

"HUMBLE THEMSELVES"

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)  if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

OLD TESTAMENT USAGE

The Meaning Of The Word

Humble = to bend the knee; hence to humiliate, vanquish:‑‑bring down (low), into subjection, under, humble (self), subdue.

Carries the idea of being conquered

                                2 Samuel 8:1                                          2 Ki 22:10-19

                It means to be brought into service of as a slave

                                1 Chronicles 20:4

                If we don't humble ourselves, God will

                                2 Chronicles 28:19

                The lack of humbling brings guilt

                                2 Chronicles 33:23

                The presence of humbling brings forgiveness and renewal

                The Meaning Of The Word

Humble = tapeinos, depressed, i.e. (fig.) humiliated (in circumstances or disposition):‑‑base, cast down, humble, of low degree (estate), lowly.

                The opposite of being proud or exalted
