Get Off The Bench & Into the Game
Pastor Larry Davis
25 Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:25-28 (NIV)
I. What Keeps Us on the BENCH?
II. Why Should You Get in The Game? (Why should You Serve)
1. You were SAVED & CALLED to serve.
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)
37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)
2. You & the Church are made COMPLETE through service.
All of you together are the one body of Christ, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it. 1 Co 12:27 (The Living Bible)
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
1. You will give an ACCOUNT.
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:12 (NIV)
2. You will be REWARDED for your Service.
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matthew 25:23 (NIV)
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
