WINNING THE BATTLE FOR THE HOME

Proverbs 5:1-23

INTRODUCTION

A war has been waged on America’s homes.

This scripture is so very important.

We are in a Crisis of moral purity and the sanctity of the home.

(Ezra 9:6)  and prayed: "O my God, I am too ashamed and disgraced to lift up my face to you, my God, because our sins are higher than our heads and our guilt has reached to the heavens.

This is not just a matter of manners or taste. Sexual immorality is at war trying to destroy our homes.

God’s plan is still one man for one woman till death do them part!

(Genesis 2:24)  For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Satan has aimed the artillery of Hell against your family.

Satan’s Plan:

Ø      Deny God

Ø      Debase Man ( just an animal)

Ø      Deny morals

Ø      Destroy the home

Ø      Dominate society

It is a known fact that those who treat sexual purity lightly will treat other human beings lightly.

Proverbs 5

FIVE FACTORS THAT WILL HELP YOU BUILD AND MAINTAIN MORAL PURITY AND KEEP YOU HOME AS IT OUGHT TO BE!!

1A.      THE INSTRUCTION FACTOR (Proverbs 5:1-2)

When are we going to learn?

(Proverbs 6:32‑33)  But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. {33} Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away;

We have put the Bible out of school and replace it with sex education!

2A.      THE DECEPTION FACTOR (PROVERBS5:3-6)

Beware of Satan’s snares.

Satan is too clever to fish without bait..

1B.      His Fatal Trap (3)

Frivolity

Ø      Honey lips

Ø      The bread of deceit is sweet!

Flattery (3b)

Ø      A little flattery now and then makes big fools of little men.

(Proverbs 6:23‑24)  For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life, {24} keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.

Fatality (4-5)

Ø      Sin thrills then it kills!

Ø      Sin always brings death

3A.      THE PROTECTION FACTOR (PROVERBS5:7-8)

Avoid Dangerous Situations

Oswald Chambers “An unguarded strength is a double weakness.”

This is not a sin we are told to fight but to flee!

(2 Timothy 2:22)  Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

(1 Corinthians 6:18)  Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

Joseph - fled!

Some stupid people who would have said lets pray - don’t try to fight - flee!!!

He who would not fall down ought not walk in slipper places. Adrian Rogers

Rules...

Ø      Never visit the opposite sex alone at their home.

Ø      Never counsel with the opposite sex alone.

Ø      Never go to lunch alone with the opposite sex.

Ø      Never discuss detailed sexual problems with the opposite sex.

Ø      Do not playfully flirt with the opposite sex.

Ø      Call your wife sweetheart!

5A.      THE DESTRUCTION FACTOR

The Deadly Consequences

Why does God say it is stupid?

1B.      Dissipation (9-10)

Ø      Sin is costly!

Ø      In fact it will cost you everything!

2B.      Disease (11)

Ø      AIDS is the consequence of sin.

Ø      The answer to the AIDS epidemic - live by this book!!!!!!

3B.      Disappointment (12-13)

Ø      “Why did I not listen to the pastor?”

Ø      Living Bible translation

Ø      Satan offers high wages but pays in counterfeit money

4B.      Disgrace (14)

Ø      You can only hid sin so long

(Luke 12:2)  There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

5B.      Dominion (22)

Ø      Immorality enslaves!

“sins against his own body..”

Ø      Many are chained by this sin and they bind them!

6B.      Death (23)

Ø      Moral death

Ø      Spiritual death - heal

(1 Corinthians 6:9)  Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

Ø      If you are living this way you are on your way to hell!!

5A.      THE INTENTION FACTOR

Enjoy God’s Best

What is God’s Intention for you...

1B.      A Lasting Marriage (5:18)

Ø      If you ever leave me I’m going with you.

2B.      A Loving Marriage (5:19)

Ø      If you don’t live by God’s love you will miss out.

Ø      Every “you shall not” - Don’t hurt yourself

Ø      Every “you shall” - Help yourself

Ø      God is not keeping sex from you but for you.

3B.      A Liberating Marriage

Ø      Verse 22 will not apply to you!!!

APPLICATION

Ø      You can be pure!

Ø      The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart!
