A. The commission of the prophet (1:1) “Rise and Go”
And the word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai saying, “Rise up to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against her, because wickedness is up to her face.
B. The fleeing of the prophet (1:2-3) “Flee and Go Down”
But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the face of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. And he paid the fare and “went down” into it (bottom) with them to Tarshish and before the face of the Lord.
