16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
(1) to be saved
(1) to be saved
3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
We are not to try to limit evangelism to the elect only.
There are two reasons for this. First, God’s decree of election is secret. We do not know who the elect are and have no way of knowing until they respond to the gospel. Second, the scope of God’s evangelistic purposes is broader than election. “Many are called, but few are chosen” (Matt. 22:14).
God genuinely desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Yet in “the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Eph. 3:11), He chose only the elect “out of the world” (John 17:6), and passed over the rest, leaving them to the damning consequences of their sin (cf.. Rom. 1:18–32). The culpability for their damnation rests entirely on them because of their sin and rejection of God. God is not to blame for their unbelief.
(2) to be Spirit filled
(2) to be Spirit filled
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
(3) to be sanctified
(3) to be sanctified
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;
4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,
5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;
(4) to be submissive
(4) to be submissive
21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
35 And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

36 Then Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said,
37 behold, I am laying a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece alone, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said.”
38 And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water.
39 Then Gideon said to God, “Let not your anger burn against me; let me speak just once more. Please let me test just once more with the fleece. Please let it be dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground let there be dew.”
40 And God did so that night; and it was dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground there was dew.
The cycle of the Judges
This is nothing more than fearful rebellion.
This is an attack on the person of God, the position of God and the power of God
God’s ability to do it, God’s right to command it, God’s divine nature and deity.
How to make decisions
Are you doing the known will of God?
Have you set out all of the pros and cons?
What are the steps necessary to do each of these? More money, cooperation of friends, more education
Is it possible to gradually progress through them?
