Well this week we are continuing with the value of trust which we looked at last week. There are basically two things that cause us to be able to trust someone. Those are character and competency. Those two are prevalent with God. He has character as we saw in our first week of January and today we are going to see that there is no one more competent than God. The word competent means: having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully. In other words it someone who is able to do what they need to do. So today we are going to see that when it comes to God, He is able! When we really get this in our heart that He is able to do everything, our trust in God increases. So let’s start looking at God’s ability.
Romans 16:25–27 AMP
25 Now to Him Who is able to strengthen you in the faith which is in accordance with my Gospel and the preaching of (concerning) Jesus Christ (the Messiah), according to the revelation (the unveiling) of the mystery of the plan of redemption which was kept in silence and secret for long ages, 26 But is now disclosed and through the prophetic Scriptures is made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, [to win them] to obedience to the faith, 27 To [the] only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One)! Amen (so be it).

1. God is able to strengthen you in faith!

The bible tells us in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. In other words the more we get into God’s word which reveals Him, the more our faith is strengthened. We looked at this last week but just as a review we know that without faith it is impossible to please God because you have to believe He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. So you see how this works? God stated that you need faith to please Him. And that if you’re studying and meditating on His word you’ll get this faith that’s needed to please Him. But get this, He is able to strengthen your faith. Do you see how God operates? He requires us to do something and then He Himself provides that requirement for us. He is able!!
2 Corinthians 9:8 AMP
8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

2. God is able make grace come to you!

Now this is awesome. God is able to make grace, every favor and earthly blessing come to us in abundance. Wow that means He provides for us to be able to be a blessing to others. Sometimes we might be tempted to think how can God require us to always do good to others and be generous because we think we’re having to do these things on our own with our own ability. But we are not. God is the one who does this if we let Him. Why? Because He is able to do this. The challenge is resting on His ability. Do you remember in John chapter 4 when Jesus was talking to the woman at the well and His disciples were getting food for them? When they returned with the food Jesus had be ministering to her. Then they asked Him to eat and He told them that He has meat they didn’t know about. His meat was to do what His Father wanted. When we give ourselves like Jesus did, God gives us everything we need to continue to be a blessing by giving us His grace. We keep doing this because we know He is able.
Jude 24–25 The Message
24 And now to him who can keep you on your feet, standing tall in his bright presence, fresh and celebrating—25 to our one God, our only Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Master, be glory, majesty, strength, and rule before all time, and now, and to the end of all time. Yes.

3. God is able to keep us standing!

There is going to be a time when we will stand before God and on that day we will be able to stand tall because He is able to do this. God is there to keep us standing during times we would otherwise no be able to stand on our own. God is the one who keeps us from stumbling and will present us faultless to Himself because He is able. Jesus has taken us out from the kingdom of darkness and has delivered us into His kingdom because of His sacrifice. It’s because of the blood of Jesus that our sins are washed away. The blood of Jesus is able to put us back into right standing with God. Because of that God is able to keep us standing tall in His presence because He is able.
Ephesians 3:20–21 NKJV
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20 The Message
20 God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

4. God is able to do way more than we could ever imagine!

We need to remind ourselves that there is nothing impossible for God. Jesus said that with man it is impossible but with God all things are possible. We can try to dream big! We can try to dream of something that is so big we can’t imagine it ever happening. Like seeing our entire family saved. And we think this is such a huge dream that it could never happen. But as we’ve seen today, God is able to do anything. The fact is He is able to do far more than anything we could ever think or imagine or dream about. There is nothing too great for God because He is able.
