We first see this guy named Caleb in Number 13 when God is choosing the people from each of the 12 Tribes of Israel to go into the Promised Land to spy it out and see if they can actually take possession of the land that God has promised them.

Numbers 13:6 NIV

6 from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

Numbers 14:24 NIV

24 But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

Hebrews 12:2 NIV
