BREAKING AND BUILDING THE KINGDOM

Jeremiah 1:4-10, Key 10

INTRODUCTION

Jeremiah served God in a difficult time.

Judah had turned away form God

They were the cloud of Babylonian invasion and exile

God’s judgement had began to fall

The analogy is obvious

Jeremiah did not want to be a prophet and speak for God

Notice God’s direction for Jeremiah’s ministry in the difficult days of Judah’s apostasy

1A.       BREAK DOWN

1B.       God has place us in a position of authority and responsibility

“Appoint” - to place over or in charge of.

2B.       We are to encounter the enemy for we have authority over them.

“Nations” = heathen

“Kingdoms” = the dominion of a king, Satan

3B.       We are to conquer the enemy...

“Uproot” = to tear away

“Tear down” = pull down

“Destroy” = to bring to an end - perish

“Overthrow” = to subdue, pull down in pieces

Some things we need to conquer...

Apathetic attitudes

Cliquish classes

Boring Bible study

2A.       BUILD UP

1B.       Start where you are...

“Build” =make, repair

This implies teaching...

Be careful not to ignore those we have.

Help bring God’s children to maturity

2B.       Never be completely satisfied

“Plant” = to plant...

This implies outreach

Never stop reaching out to and enrolling new members.

If you are satisfied with your class you need to repent or resign!

Takes three looks...

Inward look - absentees

Outward look - prospects

Upward look - Savior

APPLICATION

You must be willing to break down before you can build up

Where are you?
