Joe Angel Sanchez Jr.
Welcome
On behalf of the family I would like to thank you all for coming to celebrate the life of Joe Angel Sanchez Jr.. We have gathered here to praise God and to witness to our faith as we celebrate the life of Joe. We come together in grief, acknowledging our human loss. May God grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.
Prayer
Father God,
I thank you for the life of Joe and I ask that your Spirit would surround the Sanchez family as they continue to mourn their loss. I ask that you would comfort them in their pain. That you would give them hope in knowing that they will see Joe once more when it is their time to be called home. That you would give them strength by surrounding them with family member and friends who can help them during this time. I pray that they would find time in their mourning to remember all of the great times they had with Joe and that is would bring a smile across their face and that laughter would fill the room. I thank you for all those who have come today to glorify you and to celebrate the life of Joe. We give you all glory, honour, and praise.
Amen

Sermon
Dying, Christ destroyed our death.
Rising, Christ restored our life.
Christ will come again in glory.
As in baptism Joe Angel Sanchez Jr. put on Christ,
so in Christ may Joe be clothed with glory.
Here and now, dear friends, we are God’s children.
What we shall be has not yet been revealed;
but we know that when he appears, we shall be like Jesus,
for we shall see him as he is.
Those who have this hope purify themselves as Christ is pure.
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Joe knew who Jesus was and he received his salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. He leaned on God during all stages of his life and trusted God to lead him where he needed to be.
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
The greatest thing that God gave Joe was the love that he had inside of him. Joe had so much love inside of him that it flooded out and covered everything he came in contact with. Joe loved everyone and it was evident that Joe belonged to Jesus because of this trait.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
As we celebrate the life of Joe Angel Sanchez Jr. I would encourage you to come to know Jesus like he did, to allow God to lead you in life like Joe did, and to love all those you come across like Joe did. Honor his memory by doing these things. Let’s pray.
