Luke 15:14–20 CSB
14 After he had spent everything, a severe famine struck that country, and he had nothing. 15 Then he went to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to eat his fill from the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one would give him anything. 17 When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough food, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. 19 I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired workers.” ’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.

1. A life without your senses ends in despair

Sin takes you further than you want to go and keeps you longer than you want to stay
The son spent all he had in foolish living
If you are not in your right mind, mistakes happen

2. Your senses are under attack

The corona virus attacks your sense of Taste
Taste involves testing or sampling
Taste is associated with pleasure and satisfaction
Many eat and are not satisfied
Therefore, many don’t know that they need to go to the Lord
Psalm 34:7–9 NIV84
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.
Many have forgotten that the Lord is good
The enemy is making many unable to enjoy the Lord
Many have lost their sense of taste and are settling for less than God has for them
God has good plans for you
You must taste before you can see
The corona virus attacks your sense of Sight
To see involves understanding and perceiving
We perish without our sense of sight
We can’t see the Lord and His Works
2 Corinthians 4:4 NIV84
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
The enemy is blinding people to the light of the Gospel
We must continue to shine for Jesus
We have the Light, let the light shine
Let’s illuminate the path so that others can come
Psalm 121:1–2 CSB
1 I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
We must lift our sight above what is in front of us
We need insight
We need foresight
We need faith to see
The corona virus attacks your sense of Smell
The sense of smell is closely linked to memory
The sense of smell stirs our emotions
Those with trauma can be taken back by the smell
We can also return to happier days
I remember when....
The son couldn’t differentiate between what a good and bad food was
Philippians 4:18 CSB
18 But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you provided—a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
Without the sense of smell we will offer God a strange sacrifice
We will not be able to tell the difference
The corona virus attacks your sense of Touch
Our skin, the largest organ, houses receptors that sense touch
Touch allows us to receive information about internal and external environments
We feel our way through things and situations, part of our experiences
Hebrews 10:25 CSB
25 not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
We need a healing touch
We need an anointing touch
We need touch to be strengthened and encouraged
We need touch to build our relationships
The corona virus attacks your sense of Hearing
We are known by our fruit
How are we using our sense of Hearing?
Whatever we feed will grow
The more negativity we hear, the more negative we will be
Romans 10:17 NLT
17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
We must build our faith so that it becomes authentic
We can only build by hearing the Word—Good News
Hebrews 11:6 CSB
6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
This is the end game of the enemy, to destroy our faith
Luke 18:8 CSB
8 I tell you that he will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
What a question
Where is our faith?
What are we believing?
We need to be assured in our faith
We must be firm in our faith
We need our senses to strengthen our faith

3. Now is the time to come back to your senses

Hebrews 3:15–19 CSB
15 As it is said: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. 16 For who heard and rebelled? Wasn’t it all who came out of Egypt under Moses? 17 With whom was God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
We must come to our senses
You are hearing
Do not harden your heart
Use your senses, recognize the Lord
He is calling you today
Today is the day
2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT
2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
Right now is the right time
