No Man Left Behind!

Proverbs 17:17; Genesis 4:9

Proverbs 17:17 - A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity. (NKJV)
Genesis 4:9 - Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
No Man Left Behind is a military term, that speaks to the importants of each individual in the armed services; it speaks to the oneness of the unit, team, squad or division. And there is such a high value placed on one man or many men; that if an individual falls overboard on an $13 billion dollare Aircraft Carrier that weighs 2.26 million pounds; it will turn back into its wake to search for one man no matter what their rank is from Officer to Enlisted it dose not matter the search is on. In the Navy if an individual is missing - a seach party is called; In the Marines, Army and Airforce they send out teams to recover the individual and if the individual is not recoverd its call MIA (missing in action) or (APD) accident presumed dead. But the search can take hours, days or weeks.
Here lies the problem which is based in the way we think, me my self and I; that mindset creates a world of indifference and problems. But the mindset we need to have in this time is the mindset of Brother’s Helping Brothers so that No man is Left Behind. I summit this to you today that we are our brothers keepers. Then we are to stand with our brother in the midst of trouble or adversity; the world would have us think that its every man for himself, or see other brothers in a competive way. Therefore causing us to be isolated from each other and reluctant to see each other as brothers. When we live like that, we fall into deception and are easily moved into mindsets of Racism, Classism, Spiritualism, Socialism and live, lives of isms. ( Isms means - an oppressive and especially discriminatory attitude or belief) So lets take a look at the problems that come from this type of mindset.
The Cain Mentality
God asked Cain where was his brother, Cain responded “Am I my brother’s Keeper?” Let’s look at Cain’s word of choice Keeper.
Keeper - is the Hebrew word shamar!
Shamar - means to; watch, preserve, bodyguard, guard, defending, take note, protect, regard, take care, observe.
The Cain Mentality is about self, you can always tell when a brother is operating in that mindset.
He is only watching out for himself! He is not watching your back it’s self preservation, he’s not trying to preserve you. The brother is not going to protect you, he will leave you for dead!
Or the brother with the attitude that only has regard for his own stuff. He is going to take care of what is his and not yours.
The Cain Mentality
The brother that tells you yea, yea I got you; who supposed to defend you but leaves you for dead.
How about the brother with no regard, for your feelings or what you maybe going through or dealing with - He says stuff like, suck it up butter cup; or man just get over it already; how about this one Man Up!
The Cain Mentality creates a cynical brother who believes that people are motivated by self-interest; thus they become distrustful of human sincerity or integrity.
The Mark
Like Cain this leaves a mark, while Cain’s mark was visible; this one is not visible to the human eyes but evident in behavior.
Murdering a Brother!
Like Cain we become murders of the brethren and not Brother’s Helping Brothers.
Genesis 4:8 - Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
The Cain Mentality is not one that builds a brother but sets out to kill and destroy a brother. But this is not God’s intent for us to be toward one another.
Truth-Bearer
1 Timothy 2:3-4 (NKJV)
1 Timothy 2:3 - For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, (NJKV)
1 Timothy 2:4 - who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (NKJV)
He desire that No Man is Left Behind
We leave no man behind by become conveyors of Truth or in other words Truth-Bearers - they need to be saved (Greek -SOZO - to rescue from danger or destrution; keep save) I may need to be safed from myself.
Brothers are born for Adversity (Proverbs 17:17)
All throughout the Bible we can see examples of brother’s helping brothers.
The Pull Up A Kingly Mindset!
II Samuel 9: 1-7
1.Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2. And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba. So when they had called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
He said, “At your service!”
3. Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.”
4. So the king said to him, “Where is he?”
And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5. Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6. Now when Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7. So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
Bonded Brotherhood!
Numbers 14: 6-10
6. But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;
7. and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.
8. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey.’
9. Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”
10. And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel.
Brothers Bearing the Weight Of Responsibility
I Samuel 22:1-2
1. David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. So when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
2. And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.
Distress means - extreme anxiety, sorrow or pain
Debt means - something owed, obligation
Discontent - unhappy, frustrated, resentment, unease
A Changing Of the Guard
Inorder for use to truly be Brother’s Helping Brothers and Leave No Man Left Behind. We must
decide to allow a changing of the Guard in our heart and mind, a full replacement from that old way or view point of feeling and thinking. The Old Guard is the philosophy of this worlds system of thinking and behavior toward one another it is the Cain mentality in full affect it has to go. The New Guard is the Holy Spirit’s transformative power working in our minds to bring about True Brotherhood that Brother’s Helping Brothers is the new standard we live by; A creed of No Man Left Behind is then adopted. So that the transformative power of the word of God that speaks to issues and resolves conflicts, that promotes unity and brings us man on one accord. Will helps us love on another not with lip service but true manifested love.
Psalm 133:1 Look how good an how pleasant it is when brothers live togther in unity!
1 John 3:16 This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.
