Feigning Faith

Introduction. Sarah used as an example of faith seems somewhat contradictory from her testimony given in Genesis. Sarah, after laughing at the angel of God, seems more doubtful than filled with faith. However, her life is a living example of faith.

To often we judge people on their failures and not on their success. Sarah laughed but she had not seen the power of Gd o]upon Israel, nor read His word, nor heard His voice. Yet in-spite of this she followed Him.

I. Foundation of Faith.

Before or faith can falter we must posses faith. The fact that she is mentioned in Hebrews is no surprise when her life is examined.

A. Faith to Follow Abraham.

From leaving Ur and Haran, Sarah followed by Faith.

B. Faith from her Father.

Genesis 20:12 tells us that Terah was her father.

II. Fight for Faith.

A. Uncertainties of Life.

Sarah had been often placed in uncomfortable situations.

Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.

III. Firming of Faith.

A. Remembered what God had done.

Heb. 11:11 says that the judged God faithful. the word judged comes from the Greek word Hegeomai. Meaning to consider or to count. Sarah’s faith was strengthened when she considered all that God had done.

B. Rested in His promises.

“Him faithful who had promised”. She found her faith when she rested in His promises. We to v=can strengthen our faith when we trust in Him.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Victory is ours.

Forgiveness

Ephesians 4:32 KJV 1900

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

The unconditional love of God.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
