THE MAKING OF A MIGHTY OAK

Isaiah 61:1-3

INTRODUCTION

Oak Trees

Oak trees are found all over the world. They can be no larger than a shrub or grow to more than 100 feet. Oaks grow slowly, do not bear acorns until they are about 20 years old and often live 200 - 400 years.

Oak Trees in the Bible - The Lebanon Oak

Oak (Quercus species) trees provide excellent timber for ships (Ezek. 27:6) and other construction, Oaks were used to mark graves (Gen. 35:8) or as landmarks (1 Sam. 10:3)

In this passage God’s people are likened to an Oak of Righteousness...

Let’s examine what goes into the making of a Mighty Oak for God!

(Ephesians 1:13‑14) ... you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, {14} who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession...

2B.       The In Filling of the Holy Spirit - Spirit Filled

From blindness

(2 Corinthians 4:4,6)  The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, ....(6) For God, ... made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
