The Day He Wore Our Crown - The imagery is powerful notice the symbolism...
1A. OUR CONDITION (28)
God Exposes Us..
(Jeremiah 17:9‑10) The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? {10} "I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."
(Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double‑edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Our Sin Embarrass Us...
(Matthew 10:26‑28) "...There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. {27} What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. {28} Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
(Isaiah 47:3) Your nakedness will be exposed and your shame uncovered. I will take vengeance; I will spare no one."
(Nahum 3:5) "I am against you," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness and the kingdoms your shame.
(Revelation 3:18) I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
2A. OUR CONDEMNATION (29)
(John 3:17‑18) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. {18} Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
We Are Under A Curse
(Genesis 3:17‑18) To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. {18} It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
(Romans 5:12) Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned‑‑
(Romans 3:23)
He Bore Our Curse
(Galatians 3:13) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."
(Isaiah 53:6) We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(1 Peter 2:24) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
3A. OUR CHASTISEMENT (30)
Spit on Him
(Isaiah 53:3) He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Struck Him
(Isaiah 53:4‑5) Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. {5} But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
(Proverbs 13:15) ... the way of transgressors is hard.
(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Numbers 32:23) "But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.
(Galatians 6:7) Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
You will reap what you sow
You will reap more than you sow
You will reap later than you sow
God will Judge your sin...
Either with Christ on the Cross
Or with you for eternity!
