JUDGEMENT DAY

Revelation 20:7-15

INTRODUCTION

Facts About The Judgement

No General Judgement

No Gentle Judge

No Christians at this Judgement

The End of Time...

This is the end of time as we know it!

Heaven and Earth will be destroyed

(2 Peter 3:10)  "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare."

God will create a new heaven and earth

(Revelation 21:1)  "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea."

Two Points...

The Devil’s Doom

The Sinner’s Destiny

1A.       THE DEVIL’S DOOM (7-10)

1B.       Satan’s Release (7-8a)

He has one purpose... deceive

2B.       Sin’s Return (8b-9a)

Who is deceived - “Gog & Magog” = symbolic of lost/rebellious mankind

How many are deceived - “sand...”

What they are deceived to do - “surrounded the camp...”

3B.       Sin’s Reward (9b-10)

The fiery death of the deceived (9b)

The fiery doom of the devil (10)

(Matthew 25:41)  ""Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

Satan will finally get what he deserves...

2A.       THE SINNER’S DESTINY (11-15)

1B.       The Setting (11)

It is an awesome place - “Great...on it”

Great = Power

White = Purity

Throne = Purpose (judgement)

Him = Person (Jesus is the Judge!)

(John 5:22)  "Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,"

It is an awful place - “Earth...fled...”

No place to hide -

2B.       The Sinners (12-13)

1C.       No exceptions (12; 21:8)

Four Classes Of Folks...

Pagans - God Haters

Hate God, the church, preaching, the Bible...

Pious - Self Righteous

Thinks they are too good to go to Hell

Believe the Gospel is for the drunkard, big sinner!

(Matthew 5:20)  "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."

Procrastinators - Felix

(Acts 24:25)  "...Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.""

(James 4:14)  "... You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."

(2 Corinthians 6:2)  "now is the day of salvation."

Pretenders - Church Members

(Matthew 7:21)  ""Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

2C.       No excuses - “books...”

The Bible

(John 12:48)  "There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day."

The Book of Life

“The Lamb’s Book of Life”

(Revelation 21:27)  "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."

The Record Book

(Romans 2:16)  "This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares."

3C.       No escaping (13)

“Death” = Body

“Hades” = Spirit

No matter the condition or location of the body God will find it and resurrect it.

3B.       The Sentence (13b-15)

1C.       It’s surety (13b)

(Hebrews 9:27)  "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,"

2C.       It’s severity - No Mercy

(Hebrews 10:28‑29,31)  "Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. {29} How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? ... {31} It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

That is harsh - if you want grace and mercy and love you can have it. - Today!

Now is the time of grace - No chance after death...

APPLICATION

There are three parts to every trial. The evidence is presented against you. You make your defense, and the verdict of the court is handed down.

Let's suppose that the end of time has come. One by one the names are called. Then finally you're standing face to face with Jesus Christ, the one who created you, the one who loved you, the one who died for you, the one who invited you, the one that you have refused, the one that you've ridiculed, the one whose name you've used in vain.

Now you stand face to face with Jesus Christ. And there is no place to hide. And the evidence is presented. The books are opened. And there is the evidence, a mountain of sin. Every dishonest deed, every lie you ever told, every lustful deed that you've ever done, every wicked word that you've ever spoken, all of the things that you ought to have done, that you did not do, all of your influence.

You’ll say, My God, No. But God said, that's the record. That is the record. The books are open. I've been keeping books. That is the sum total of a sinful life. What is your defense?

Lord, I didn't know which church to believe in.

There were so many hypocrites in that Church.

I wasn't going to go down that aisle, and give my heart to anybody till I was sure I could live it.

I did not have time... died on the way home from church...

And one by one, your silly excuses will falter and fail, and you'll bow your head, and you'll say guilty. And then the verdict of the court will be handed down. “If anyone’s name is not written...”

My friend, are you saved? The Bible says if you're saved, there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. You'll never come into Judgement.

I'm not coming to Judgement, and I'll tell you why. I settled out of court. I received Christ as my personal Savior and Lord.

HAVE YOU?
