Proverbs 8:32-36

INTRODUCTION

We have seen in our study of Proverbs that the central theme of this book is wisdom.

We have defined wisdom as sanctified common sense or the ability to discern right from wrong and do it.

In these verses Solomon personifies wisdom and in so doing identifies wisdom.

It is in these verses we discover that Jesus Christ is indeed the personification of wisdom so that when wisdom speaks Christ speaks.

(Colossians 2:3)  "in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

“Listen” = shama', shaw‑mah'; a prim. root; to hear intelligently (often with impl. of attention, obedience, etc.)

(John 6:63)  "... The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life."

(John 1:1‑2)  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. {2} He was with God in the beginning."

2B.       Walk in Wisdom’s Way (32b, 33b)

(John 14:15)  ""If you love me, you will obey what I command."

(John 14:23‑24)  "Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. {24} He who does not love me will not obey my teaching... "

(1 John 5:3)  "This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,"

(Matthew 12:30)  ""He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters."

(John 5:39‑40)  "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, {40} yet you refuse to come to me to have life."
