#1 Jesus is Divine.

Notice how John begins his Gospel.
John 1:1-5
John 1:1–5 NASB95
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John begins with three very important phrases.
The first is “In the beginning was the Word”
Genesis 1:1 shows us the beginning of everything is God. Unlike other religions or mythology that has creation stories for their Gods. We cannot go back any further than God. There was never a time when God was not.
Cf. Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:1 NASB95
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
This first phrase John is taking Jesus’ beginnings farther back than the other gospels and as far back as one can go.
The second phrase is “the Word was with God”
Distinction of in persons in the Godhead.
The Third phrase is “the Word was God.”
One Being
Jesus was not only there in the beginning with God, He is God.
John 1:14-18
John 1:14–18 NASB95
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’ ” For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
“He existed before me.”
Further proof of Christ’s Divinity.
Cf. John 1:15 John the Baptist was born before Jesus.
“The Word became flesh and took up residence among us.”

#2 Jesus was Fully Human

Luke 2:4-7
Luke 2:4–7 NASB95
Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Jesus was born in a feeding trough in the little town of Bethlehem.
The King and Savior of the World born into the world with no pomp and circumstance.
No lavish palaces or parades.
Luke 2:8-20
Luke 2:8–20 NASB95
In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.
The grand news of the Kings birth was announced to the most unlikely and marginalized men in society, Shepherds!
The welcoming party for the Savior of the World, were Shepherds!
These men lived among their sheep. They were dirty and rough and most definitely stank.
And yet they went, saw, shared and rejoiced.
Luke 2:20
Luke 2:20 NASB95
The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.
Matthew 2:1-6
Matthew 2:1–6 NASB95
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet: And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, Are by no means least among the leaders of Judah; For out of you shall come forth a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ”
“Wise Men from the East”...”For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
Matthew 2:7-12
Matthew 2:7–12 NASB95
Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.” After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
This second group of visitors took around 2 years of traveling before they met the incarnate Christ.

Luke 2:41-52
Luke 2:41–52 NASB95
Now His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. And when He became twelve, they went up there according to the custom of the Feast; and as they were returning, after spending the full number of days, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. But His parents were unaware of it, but supposed Him to be in the caravan, and went a day’s journey; and they began looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances. When they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem looking for Him. Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. When they saw Him, they were astonished; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You treated us this way? Behold, Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You.” And He said to them, “Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house? But they did not understand the statement which He had made to them. And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
