It’s Possible
It’s Possible
11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Confession of Faith I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith! In Jesus Name
Introduction:
What do you do when your heart is troubled!
What do you do when you are disturbed,
What do you do when you are agitated,
What do you do when you are perplexed,
What do you do when you are worried,
What do you do when you are confused,
What do you do when you feel life is just tossing you around
What do you do when you are distressed
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
Jesus is talking to the disciples! The disciples were greatly troubled,
they were disturbed, they were agitated,
they were perplexed,
they were worried,
they were tossed about, they were confused,
they were distressed.
Why
because Divisiveness had set in among them
Judas had deserted and betrayed Jesus
The had been talking about the time when Jesus would leave then permanently
They witnessed Jesus tell Peter he would deny him tree times
The disciples needed to be settled down and given some sense of peace:
Just like you and me! When trouble comes from the left, then it comes from the right, we need to receive some encouragement and some new hope.
Believe
Believe
Deliverance from troubled hearts comes through belief in Jesus Christ as well as in God.
"You believe in God, believe also in Me.
Jesus remind us that he is the “I AM”
I Am the revelation of God,
I Am the Son of God Believing in me, that I am the Son of God, will deliver you from trouble.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
When things are ruff we must "Believe in God; and believe in Jesus
We must continue to believe even while you are in the midst of trouble
Believing in God,
Believing in Jesus Christ and
Believing in the Holy Spirit that’s what will carry you through.
Believing in God and His Son that’s what will deliver our troubled hearts."
36 And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”
24 “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.
31 But these miracles have been written so that you will believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and so that you will have life by believing in him.
The Challenge
The Challenge
11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
Jesus then challenges us - He challenges us to believe his claim
He was the embodiment of God.
He was in the Father, and the Father was in Him—perfectly.
Jesus was the One whom God sent into the world to show men women , boys and girls who He is and what He is like.
Jesus was the revelation of God to us ,
Jesus came to the world to show us that God is "the Father,"
Jesus came to the world to show us God the father loves us!
Jesus came to the world to show us that God cares for us!
Jesus came to the world to show us that God forgives
and cares, forgives
The challenge is to believe Jesus
The challenge is to believe Jesus
The challenge is to believe in Him as a Person!
The challenge is to believe he is the Son of God
The challenge is to believe in his claim!
The Challenge is to believe in his testimony and witness about himself
If you are having difficulty believing His claim, then look at His works.
Believe Him because of His phenomenal works.
Do whatever is needed to secure the evidence, but believe and accept His claim!
36 “But I have a proof about myself that is greater than that of John. The things I do, which are the things my Father gave me to do, prove that the Father sent me.
22 “People of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus from Nazareth was a very special man. God clearly showed this to you by the miracles, wonders, and signs he did through Jesus. You all know this, because it happened right here among you.
It’s Possible
It’s Possible
12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
This is the promise!
As a believer we shall do the very same works that Jesus did and do even greater works than He did.
Check this out
The genuine believer will do the same kind of work that Jesus did, work that is characterized...
• work that is characterized by loving and caring.
• work that is characterized by ministering and healing. •
work that is characterized... by proclaiming and teaching the good news
work that is characterized... by witnessing and testifying.
work that is characterized by sharing and discipling.
work that is characterized by helping and performing miracles.
As a believer we will work, doing all we can to demonstrate the love of God and leading men to a saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ.
28 That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”
10 The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.”
21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
It’s Possible
It’s Possible
The genuine believer will work hard for the very same purpose as Jesus.
You work to show people the love and justice of God.
You work to help people in all their need.
You work to lead people to believe in Jesus Christ that they might be saved and delivered from sin, death, and hell.
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
It’s Possible
It’s Possible
As believers will do even greater works than Jesus.
Here’s what this means: When you decide as a servant of Jesus Christ - you will reach more people and have broader results than Jesus did.
The whole world would eventually hear, and an impact would be made upon many societies and nations as a whole.
But hear me on this Greater works are possible only through Jesus
Only because He has gone to His Father and is sitting at the right hand of the Father.
From there—from the throne of power—
He equips and enables us to do the works.
We are able to do great works only through the presence and power of Jesus who is with the Father.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
33 With great power the apostles were telling people that the Lord Jesus was truly raised from the dead. And God blessed all the believers very much.
5 For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.
It’s Possible With Prayer
It’s Possible With Prayer
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
This is one of the most wonderful promises in all the Bible.
God hears the prayers of the believer.
The only prayers heard and answered are those asked "in Jesus' name."
So What does it mean to pray "in Jesus' name"?
This means
As believers we know that...God hears our prayers because Jesus is acceptable to Him,
and we come in the name of Jesus.
We know the only Mediator between God and men is Jesus; therefore, we approach God in the name of Jesus. •
We know the only Intercessor before God, the only Person asking God to accept us is Jesus. •
We know the only Person, the only name that is perfect enough to approach God is Jesus;
That’s why we pray in the name of Jesus.
I seek to glorify the name of Jesus only.
To pray "in His name" means that we asks only those things that will honor His name.
To pray "in His name" means that we asks only those things that will praise His name.
To pray "in His name" means that we asks only those things that will bring glory to His name.
To pray "in His name" means that we asks only those things that will lead to His name being lifted up.
To pray "in His name" means that we asks only those things that will never detract, lower or lead away from His name.
23 In that day you will not ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you anything you ask for in my name.
24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy.
Here’s why Jesus answers the prayers of the believer.
His purpose is to glorify God.
When Jesus answers prayer, the Father is glorified, but so is Jesus.
The power and wisdom, love and care shown in answered prayer are of God through the name of Jesus.
Therefore when we pray and receives what he asked for... •
Our attention is upon both the Father and the Son.
Our praise and thanksgiving are heaped upon both the Father and the Son.
Our loyalty and surrender to both the Father and the Son are deeper and more mature.
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
