New Attitude: About Sin

Colossians 3:5–7 KJV 1900

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

Our Attitude about sin must change.

Mortify: The dictionary of biblical language says it means to “Stop completely, formally, put to death,”

Romans 8:13 KJV 1900

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Sinners do not have and attitude to stop their behavior which they consider natural.

Salvation gives people New Attitudes

Colossians 3:7 KJV 1900

7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

Those that have risen with Christ think differently then a sinner does.

Galatians 5:24 KJV 1900

24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

The things that sinners do must not be done by those that have given their life to God.

Romans 6:13 KJV 1900

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

We must put to death, stop completely, change our attitude towards, “sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Ephesians 5:3–5 KJV 1900

3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
