How do we confidently rest in our lives?

What do we do in the mean time?

Hebrews 4:1–3 TPT
1 Now God has offered to us the same promise of entering into his realm of resting in confident faith. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it. 2 For we have heard the good news of deliverance just as they did, yet they didn’t join their faith with the Word. Instead, what they heard didn’t affect them deeply, for they doubted. 3 For those of us who believe, faith activates the promise and we experience the realm of confident rest! For he has said, “I was grieved with them and made a solemn oath, ‘They will never enter into the calming rest of my Spirit.’ ” God’s works have all been completed from the foundation of the world,
Faith activates the promise, and we experience the realm of confident rest.
The parable of the seed. Found in Mark 4:26-29
Last weeks Challenge:
What seeds do You want me to plant?
What areas do I need to confidently rest that You are working things out?
Confident Rest #2
If Jesus is with you and He is going to work things out, what will you do now?
What will you focus on?
Who will you focus on?
What do you want to do next?
Most of our worry comes from us thinking the outcome is up to us.
We look at the world and what they are teaching. They are saying it is all up to us for the outcome.
To be honest, there are no weapons of warfare formed against that so people create outcomes they are aiming for with little less spiritual resistance.
The parable right after the Parable of The Seed is the Parable of the Mustard Seed.
The mustard seed is so small yet it becomes this great seed.
Jesus was trying to tell His disciples that you cant possible see how great things will become of even your small faith.
Jesus will be more than what you can imagine.
Carful of your expectations of something that looks small.
Become expectant.
Right after those two parables comes this next story
Jesus almost always teaches you something then He gives you a life experience to let what He taught sink in a real way.
Mark 4:35–41 NASB95
35 On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. 37 And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. 38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
The unspoken expectations of the disciples were that with Jesus they would not suffer.
Their suffering only came from their unbelief that it was up to them to survive this great storm.
1. Who is with you?
Jesus is in the boat with you. You did not leave Him and He did not leave you.
If you did leave Him, go back to where you lost Him.
2. What did He say?
Let us go over the other side.
When Jesus tells you something about where your life is going, you can expect to be fierce resistance to you going that direction.
Instead of focusing on that resistance as meaning something is bad or wrong with you or God doesn't care, we can look to what Jesus is currently doing.
3. Will you Rest with Him? Or will you worry and try to fix all the things that are causing stress and discomfort in your life.
What is Jesus doing?
If He is resting then it is ok for us to rest too.
I pray often that I want to do what Jesus is already blessing not get Him to bless what I am doing.
This is part of entering into that confident rest.
4. Trust in your connection, relationship and faith in Jesus.
This time is different, because I am with you and I said we are going to the other side.
I know your cold and wet, the boat is taking on water, and many times in the past you have seen this not work out for, your loved ones and others. This time it is different, I am with you and I said we are going to the other side. Do you not trust me yet? Do you not know me yet?
