Introduction

Good morning and welcome to FCC where we worship God in Spirit and in Truth, one verse at a time.
Today, is communion, a day for us to reflect on the death, the burial, and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If you are visiting and have surrendered your life to Jesus, then we welcome you to take of the Lord’s supper with us. If you have yet to surrender your life to Jesus as desire to ask Him to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life, then please see me, or the elders and we can walk with you through the process.
Here at FCC we desire communion to not be a meaningless ritual, but rather a personal encounter with the Lord who saved you.
For he went to the cross and paid your debt and mine. Without the cross, with out Christ be crucified church, we would not be here right not because of the debt we owed for violating God’s Law.
Praise God that we will learn today, that the handwriting requirements that was against us was wiped out and was nailed to the cross.
This is a time for us to realize that we were baptized with Him, died with Him, and resurrected with Him in the newness of life.

Let us take a look at 1 Corinthians 11:23-28

1 Corinthians 11:23–28 NKJV
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
Communion was instituted by the Lord and then carried into the church by Paul.
Let’s take a moment to allow the Lord to search our hearts, to reflect upon the cross and what it means to us personally, and then after a brief moment of silence, I will pray for us and as the Holy Spirit leads, please come to the table.
Its a grab and go type cup and wafer. Take it back to your seats and we will take together.
After service, please dispose of your cups and wrappers.

Review

I always like to take a few minutes to look back at what we covered the previous week.
We learned that secular philosophy and false teachers seek to entrap you into their vicious systems of heresy that seeks to destroy the Deity of Jesus Christ.
The same gnostics that existed in Jesus day, exist right now, in fact at a much great capacity, just turn on your TV or the computer.
Paul has been warning the Colossians about the dangerous heretical ideas that were beginning to enter their church. The beginning elements of what would be the Gnostic heresy were beginning to take form.  They were beginning to hear:
All matter is evil and all spirit things are good.
There are many gods.  Yahweh is the least of them all.
Jesus was just an emanation without a physical body. This means that God did not come in the flesh
Angelic are in charge of everything around us.
Secret knowledge will give you salvation.
We learned that the philosophy of men comes through 3 things last week:
According to the traditions of men.
I had someone come up to me after church last week and share that it was a family tradition that men do not cry. Is this true?
Men will lift up their traditions above Gods word and when this happens the church is soon to die
Philippians 2:3–4 NKJV
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
2. According to the elementary or basic principles of the world.
Worldly philosophy tries to find the answers to these questions only in the world (universe). Worldly philosophy looks only at the elements or materials of this world and seeks the answers to life. The consequence is tragic, for everything in the world—every element of it—passes away. Therefore, if a philosophy bases itself upon the elements of the world, there is no permanent answer or solution to life.
3. Not according to Christ.
All 3 of these seek to pull you away from the simplicity that is in Christ church.
Remember, our only defense against this is the Word of God and discernment through the power of the Holy Spirit!
Colossians 2:10 NKJV
and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
We are complete in Christ church!
The Gnostics, the Greek Philosophers, and the Jews that were in Colossae were attempting to deceive the Colossians by saying it was Jesus plus legalism, that it was Jesus plus their secret knowledge and more.
Paul here is saying it is Jesus plus nothing !
We are made complete in Him the moment we are saved, the moment we are regenerated church!
Let me show you:
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Complete-pleroo- to be filled (supplied) v. — to be or become generously supplied with, to be filled, complete, finished, to render full or complete, to fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim. To render perfect!
It is real important church that we understand the full impact of what Paul is teaching us here because this has to do with our identity in Jesus Christ.
Our identity is not of this world!
It is not found in this world church!
People seek all their lives to find out who they are only to never find out.
Our identity is not found in our jobs, in our cars, in our businesses, it is not found in money, homes, cars, cell phones, or computers, it is not found in our spouses, or our mentors, But only in Jesus Christ!
WE ARE COMPLETE IN JESUS CHRIST, FULL TO THE BRIM AT THE MOMENT WE SURRENDER OUR LIVES TO THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST.
WE ARE MADE NEW AND FILLED TO THE BRIM, COMPLETE, PERFECT AND LACKING NOTHING!
But here is the deal, the devil wants you to identify with the world because when you do he will deem you as inoperative for Jesus Christ and you will not say:
Galatians 2:20 NKJV
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
It is real important for us to grasp the fulness of this text!
So, I want to take time out this morning to look at several Bible with regards to being complete in Christ as Paul is teaching us here in Colossians 2:10.
By the way, you didn’t think I was going to just plow right through this did you?
Christians that do not know who they are in Christ or what Christ has made them and given them, live in a constant state of defeat church!
So lets take a look at some NT verses that I think can give you a picture or a glimpse of the enormous power of being in Complete in HIM!
However, I am just going to read the verses, but would like you to come to your own conclusions.
King Jimmy does some of these justice, so lets just role with it:
Matthew 9:22 KJV 1900
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
Matthew 12:13 NKJV
Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other.
Matthew 15:28–31 NKJV
Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. Jesus departed from there, skirted the Sea of Galilee, and went up on the mountain and sat down there. Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them. So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
Mark 3:5 NKJV
And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
Mark 5:28 KJV 1900
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
Luke 6:10 NKJV
And when He had looked around at them all, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
Luke 8:48 KJV 1900
And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
John 5:6 KJV 1900
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
John 5:14–15 KJV 1900
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
John 7:23 KJV 1900
If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
How about in the Apostolic or church age:
Acts 4:9–10 NKJV
If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.
Acts 9:34 KJV 1900
And Peter said unto him, Æneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Church, what is your conclusion with all these verses?
I am guessing you thinking the same thing as me, Jesus made people physically whole right?
How much more do you think the Lord who created you desires to make you spiritually whole, spiritually complete?
How much church.
Jesus healed physically, but in a few of these stories church, Jesus not only healed physically, but spiritually as well!
Now, there are some synonyms used in those various things, but the dominant term is the word:
whole- hugiēs-(hoog-ee-ace') it means healthy, sound, restored to health, to make one whole.
Jesus made them well church, he made them healthy, and he made them whole.
The best translation, “entirely well,” the absence of any infirmity.
Church the other synonym for the word whole or well is:
whole or well- sozo- to be healed ⇔ be saved v. — to be or become healed, conceived of as being rescued or delivered from imprisonment or other afflictions.
to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
to save in a technical biblical sense
to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance
You’re probably wondering what does any of this have to do with Colossians 2:10?
Church, I see amazing grace here in the picture that the Lord has laid before us this morning in that if Jesus heals physical illness and makes people entirely whole, then that is precisely what is meant by the apostle Paul in chapter 2, verse 10, when he says, “And ye are complete in Him.”
You could put the word “whole” in there. Just as Jesus Christ did miracles of healing that made people entirely well, so when Jesus touches a life spiritually and gives salvation, it is entire salvation; it is whole salvation.
That person becomes spiritually entirely well.
So your probably thinking if I am whole spiritually then why do I sin?
Church, the word picture that Paul has laid before us is that we are complete in Christ, or made whole in Christ at the very moment we are converted
Positionally we are complete in Christ.
Remember the verse we started with?
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
When Christ made you a new creation, do you think he left something out?
Positionally we are made complete church, through the blood of the lamb but practically we we must workout ! look at this text;
Philippians 2:12–13 NKJV
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Positionally we must workout our salvation church!
Note: you cannot workout your spouses salvation, your children's salvation, your boss’ salvation, your neighbors salvation. You cannot work out anyone’s but your own because we will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ!
Working out includes:
Prayer
Study of the Word
Fellowship
Witnessing
Giving time and resources
Serving in our homes, church, community
Discipling others
Caring and sharing
Forsaking this world
Love and acts of mercy and justice
Church, we are out of time, know that you are complete in him and remember if you do not know who your are in Christ, you will live in defeat instead of victory!
We do not fight for victory church, but form victory! For the battle was won on the cross!
Next week, we will learn the three things things that make us complete in Christ:
Salvation
Forgiveness
Victory
This section of scripture is theologically and doctrinally rich so come prepared with expecting to hear from the Lord!
