How to Share Your Faith
Building A Bridge

John 4:4-18

Introduction

Everyone struggles with sharing their faith

Five Obstacles we all face…

1.      Fear - What if I mess up?

2.      Fear - How do I begin?

3.      Fear - How do I answer their questions?

4.      Fear - I can not memorize scripture.

5.      Fear - How can I bring them to faith without being rude?

1A.      Claim God's Promise to give you the Wisdom and Courage to Share your Faith

(James 1:5)  "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."

(Psalms 34:4)  "I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears."

2A.      Watch for Opportunities to Share your Faith  (4-6)

Jeb the Confederate solider.

3a.      Be Friendly and Be a Friend  (7-9)

Remember you are going to share your best friend with them.

Seek out areas of common interest

Build on positive things

Do not be afraid to invest some time in the relationship

Remember this not a race it is a relationship that is built on commitment

Be real!

4A.      Be Sensitive to Their Spiritual Condition - Listen to what they say about Church and God  (10)

Ask them if they ever think about God and spiritual things?

Ask them about their church/religious background.

5A.      Share your Personal Testimony  (11-15)

What my life was like before I trusted Christ…

What my life is like now.

Jesus made the difference

6A.      Ask Specific Questions to help them Understand their Spiritual Condition  (16-18)

Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die today you would go to heaven or is that something you would say you're still working on?

Suppose you were to die today and stand before God and He were to say to you, 'Why should I let you into My heaven?' what would you say?

7A.      Listen carefully to their response and tailor your presentation of the Gospel to meet their need.

Action Points:

1.                  Enlist two prayer partners to pray with you that you will become an effective witness.  They may be church members, family members, co-workers, etc. just be sure you can pray with them at least once per week for the next month.

2.                  Study John 4:4-42 list ways that Jesus shared his faith.

3.                  Put these notes in a prominent place (the fridge) to remind you this week to witness.

4.                  Begin to make a list of ten (10) people you to whom would like to witness.  Compile all the information you can about them.

5.         Begin making new friends with the intention of sharing your faith.
