Cleo Keller Funeral
Welcome
Thank you all for coming to celebrate the life of Cleo Keller. We have gathered here to praise God and to witness to our faith as we celebrate the life of Cleo. We come together in grief, acknowledging our human loss. May God grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.
Prayer
Father God,
I thank you for the life of Cleo and I ask that your Spirit would surround the Keller family as they continue to mourn their loss. I ask that you would comfort them in their pain. That you would give them hope in knowing that they will see Cleo once more when it is their time to be called home. That you would give them strength by surrounding them with family member and friends who can help them during this time. I pray that they would find time in their mourning to remember all of the great times they had with Cleo and that is would bring a smile across their face and that laughter would fill the room. I thank you for all those who have come today to glorify you and to celebrate the life of Cleo. We give you all glory, honour, and praise.
Amen

Scripture
Cleo was a woman that loved adventure. She went on adventures with her husband, rode on motorcycles, and avidly read books that would help her to live in the stories of others adventures. In her home she had a saying that was laminated and hung up. It said: Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming, “Wow, what a ride!!!” That is the way Cleo wanted to live her life. She wanted to live it to the fullest and experience the ride of life!
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
Cleo has lived out her ride here on earth but to say that her adventure is over would be erroneous. The truth is that her adventure has far from ended because this moment is simply the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. She is now in heaven with her husband and family where she experiences no pain, discomfort, or sorrow. She is worshiping the King of kings and going on a new adventure through the streets of gold. So as we lay her body to rest it is expected to experience sorrow and mourning but it is also an opportunity to rejoice in the fact that Cleo is in heaven.
Amen.
Prayer/Committal
Almighty God,
into your hands we commend your daughter Cleo Keller,
in sure and certain hope of resurrection to eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This body we commit to the ground
(to the elements, to its resting place),
earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. (TRADITIONAL)
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labors
for their deeds follow them. (REVELATION 14:13, ALT.)
Gracious God,
we thank you for those we love but see no more.
Receive into your arms your servant Cleo,
and grant that increasing in knowledge and love of you,
she may go from strength to strength
in service to your heavenly kingdom;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
