Galatians 3:26-30 - Holding on to My Faith
Galatians 3:26-30 - Holding on to My Faith
In our text to day we see that Paul is speaking to the Galatian Church about the mean of having faith. During this time Paul had introduced the people in Galatia to Jesus Christ.
The Bible said the people were excited about receiving the good news about Jesus. You know I remember I will never forget when I receive the good news about Jesus. Before that time I knew the law but I didn’t what it really meant to get saved.
The were excited when they found out they had a chance to begin a new life in Christ. But when they were being blessed with the Word, hear comes a Jewish sect, confusing them about being saved.
Well what were they telling them Pastor? They were tell that the men had to be circumcised before they could become Christians. Well if the men had to jump through a hoop to get circumcised, it can easily be concluded that the women didn’t have a dog’s chance at all.
If they went back and began following the law, they stood in danger of being stone for breaking the law. If they got caught committing adultery, could have been stone, and those who did the stoning were legally cleared because it was the law.
Bottom line there was group from a Jewish sect who were determined to enslave the Greek Christians attitudes about Jesus with the law. Paul had given a new found freedom in Jesus, but here comes the Jews with a different message trying to bind them with the law.
Paul had to explained to them that the law had it’s place has a teacher about God. But now they were no longer bound by the law, but it is their faith that is going to sustain them.
The law teaches us right from wrong, but we can’t keep the law until our hearts are was with the Blood of the Lamb. The song writer says what can was away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What Paul is saying to us today our salvation is justified by faith through Jesus Christ. No longer did have to get permission from the priest to be forgiven from sin, but they could go to God for themselves.
Today, that’s God news, because we can all can have a personal relationship with Jesus for ourselves. Paul reminds us in Romans 10:9 that if we confess with our mouth and believe in our hearts the Lord Jesus, we shall be saved.
