SF704 - LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR A HAPPY HOME - 1 of 5 HOME IMPROVEMENT DISCOVERING GODS BLUEPRINT FOR THE FAMILY (Genesis 2 18-25)
Genesis 2:18-25
Introduction
Is this Series Needed?
“The traditional two parent family is outdated, authoritarian and the cradle of many of societies injustices. The family is a structure not worth saving. The holy family is essential repressive, teaching authoritarian psychological patterns and a belief in the unchanging rightness of male power.” Sherry Hight, Feminist Researcher
“We would like for the right and anti-choice groups to get over their love affair with the fetus and start supporting the children.” Jocelyn Elders
Condoms are in and the Commandments are Out…
Ø Percy Ross article
William Bennett: Leading Cultural Indicators, Since 1960…

The Foundations of a Happy Home are found in the Reasons for Marriage…
1A. Companionship
“it is not good for man to be alone”
We all need companionship
Ø Sometimes, it is good to be alone but not all the time.
We all need someone with whom we can share our lives.
A burden shared is halved
A joy shared is doubled.
We must set aside time for each other.
Ø When was the last time you took your wife on a date?
2A. Cooperation
“a helper” = noun not a verb
We are to work together
Ø We must be willing to share the load!
We are to cultivate each other’s potential
Ø We must work to make our mates all they can be.
We are to encourage one another.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." (1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV)
3A. Completion
“suitable” = something that completes
God made Adam from the dust - Eve from his side, why?
Ø Therefore when they came together that which is missing in Adam is brought back
Ø She was to complete him not compete with him.
Men and Women are different on Purpose and for a Purpose
“He made us different to make us one.” A. Rogers
The man…
Ø Is to be the provider (2:15)
Ø Is to be the protector (2:16)
Ø Is to be the leader (2:16)
Ø Is to be the warrior
Ø Is goal oriented, his work is an extension of himself
Ø Is analytical, wants to figure everything out
The woman
Ø Is the nurturer (3:20)
Ø Is the nester - her home is an extension of herself
Ø Is emotionally oriented - she feels
4A. Communication
We are to communicate with each other
The facts are…
Ø Women are more verbal
Ø Men are more non-verbal
The need is…
Ø For women to talk less - allow for silence
Ø For men to listen better and share feelings.
We are to communicate God to the world
Ø A godly home is the greatest testimony in the world!
Ø The world is in desperate need to see a home that works!
5A. Continuation
Children are the natural products of the home
Ø That is why God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve!
Children are a reward from God.
"Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him." (Psalms 127:3 NIV)
Our children are the hope for tomorrow.
(Psalms 78:4-6 NIV) "We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done. {5} He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, {6} so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children."
Application
Hell Attacked the Home! (3:1-14)
Satan knows if he can hurt you at home he can hurt you every where else.
Hope was Restored to the Home (3:15)
The first prophecy of Jesus
He is the glue that will hold your home together
Jesus’ First miracle - Wedding
Ø He can take the water of your disappointment and turn it into the wine of joy.
A true marriage is the union of a man, a woman and Jesus.
You cannot have a Christian home without Christians
You may not be able to have this kind of family - you can have a church family!
