Who likes searching for treasure?

Scavenger hunt and a bible - find a coin!

Hold that coin still or give it to a parent,

becasue first we need to know about a sermon that Jesus taught.

And it started like this.
Matthew 5:3 NIV
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
What he meant was that if we recognise we are poor in our hearts -
That we have done things wrong
that we have sinned -
Shove Off God
I’m in chareg
No to your rule,
Then that is a good thing to know!
Becasue it means we know we need God’s forgiveness.
And if we ask for his forgivenss,
if we say we are sorry
that shows we are ‘poor in spirit’
And what do we receive?
Listen carefully
Matthew 5:3 NIV
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Wow - Eternal life,
with the Lord Jesus!
That’s how much he loves us.
Jesus taught lots about how we should then live,
if we have discovered the love of Jesus.
So today - I want us to think about this:
Matthew 6:19 NIV
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
Vermin are mice or rats that nibble and ruin things..
Can I get your mice impressions.
Theives are people who steal things that are not theirs!
Robber impression
So Who can tell me some things that are treassure on earth?
That theives might steal or animal ruin?
What do we love or store up?
What do adults strore up?
Will they last?
So, if we know Jesus’s love and forgiveness and will live in heaven with him forever,
what sort of treasure should we collect?
Matthew 6:20 NIV
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Wow - we can collect treasure in heaven!
What sort of things might last forever?
What can’t be destroyed, or stolen
and what can we keep even after we die?
It’s hard to think of anything - so I’m going to help you.
Our relationship with Jesus will last forever.
Learning about him,
talking to him,
will all store up our relationship (or friendship) with him in heaven.
But did you know we can also store up friends in heaven!
What?
How I hear you ask?
By telling them all about Jesus so they too can live with us and Jesus forever even after we die.
Some people become missionaries to store up treasure in heaven.
They go across the world telling people who have never heard - all about Jesus!
What a great way to spend your life!
Perhaps some of you will think about doing that when you’re older.
That is what our Enlist Minisrty is all about at GC.
Encouraging young us all to think about becoming a misisonary, or a church planter, or a youth worker.
And then making sure we look after those people well.
Because we as a church wnat to be storing up[ treasure in heaven - not on earth.
I asked some people who’s job it is to tell people about Jesus,
Why did they choose to have a job telling people about Jesus -
Maybe they will inspire as you grow up,
and perhaps even us mums and dads now to think about it...

We’ll be having an ‘INterested in Mission’ event in March hopefully
PRAY
Craft - Plane
IN your family groups,
You can pray for missionary you know as a fmaily,
or you can pray for Caleb - who tells the shepherds in Lesotho, Africa about Jesus.
I’ll put a slide on the screen to tell you about him.
Matthew 6:19–21 NIV
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
