Be Filled

Ephesians 3:14–21 CSB
For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Be Filled

Ever need an energy boost - not the only one
Red Bull - 4.6 billion business
Coffee man myself
We are always trying to find the thing that will give us an edge - get us started or get us through
What about our faith
John 14:15 CSB
“If you love me, you will keep my commands.
As a younger man i thought that was a list
Things I had to do to make Jesus happy
It is daunting and exhausting
Better translation i think is If you love me you will be able.
Jesus will enable you and I by His Spirit
Paul’s prayer
Ephesians 3:16–17 CSB
I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love,
According to His Riches - endless
The Spirit is the source of power.
If you have been trying to make it on your own
Good news is you can’t and you don’t have to
When we are filled -
John 10:10 CSB
A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
Open Bible to Ephesians 4
We dive into hat it truly means to live in the power the Spirit provides
Let’s Pray
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
Live the Christian Life
Ephesians 4:1–2 CSB
Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
Live the Christian Life
A Life worthy?
Gentleness , humility, patience - list sound familiar
Galatians 5:22–23 CSB
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
Live the Christian Life
This is the natural outcome of the being in a relationship with Christ
You have to cultivate them, but they are there
This why you can keep the commands - the Spirit gives you the tools
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
2. Live in Unity
Ephesians 4:3–6 CSB
making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope at your calling—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
2. Live in Unity
You and I are called to walk together is the same direction
It does not mean we always agree on method, but we know the direction.
We are seeing played in our county what disunity brings - extremism, vendetta, division, ugliness selfishness
What a perfect time to show the world what Unity can accomplish and be an answer to Jesus’ prayer:
John 17:21 CSB
May they all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us, so that the world may believe you sent me.
Our strongest evangelism strategy is our unity
Either you are a unifier or a divider
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
3. Live on Mission
Ephesians 4:11–13 CSB
And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
3. Live on Mission
We all have a job and the Spirit given skill to do it
My job is to equip you to do your job - Not do it all.
Ephesians 2:10 CSB
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.
The Spirit Gives Us Power To:
3. Live on Mission
When we do our jobs - we experience the power of God in our lives
Most people who leave the church leave because they are not connected and experiencing anything they couldn’t experience by not going
Lifeway - asked young adults why they didn’t leave - #1 - they were active experiencing God through sharing their faith

Be Filled

Spirit give us the Power to say no to the world and Yes to God
The Spirit-filled life is not a special, deluxe edition of Christianity. It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people.
- A. W. Tozer

Be Filled

We are all in this together
We experience this in community
Connect to a small group - encourage and challenge each other through the week.
As we live filled- we live with power - nothing is impossible.
But it starts with acknowledging we can’t do it
Let today be Day 1 in a life with power.
Let’s pray
