Introduction

A House is significant because

It can provide shelter

It can provide safety

It can provide security

It can provide a sanctuary

Ø      A place where God is welcomed

Ø      A place where God is witnessed

Ø      A place where God is worshipped

What will transform a House into a Home?

1A.      A Permanent Foundation

Matthew 7:24-25 " Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

The Foundation is the rock of His Word, express in our obedience

2A.      A Perfect Builder

Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it...

Jesus alone can build our House so that it will stand!

We are to work with Him

1 Corinthians 3:12-13 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.

3A.      A Pleasing Decor

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.  7You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.  8 "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.  9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Our houses are to testify to Him

The beauty of our homes should reflect His beauty

4A.      A Prayer of Dedication

2 Samuel 7:27-29 "For You, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, I will build you a house.  Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.  28And now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant.  29Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You; for You, O Lord GOD, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever."
