Opening:
story
A priest and pastor from the local parishes are standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that reads, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it’s too late!"
"Leave us alone you religious nuts!" yelled the first driver as he sped by.
From around the curve they heard screeching tires and a big crash.
"Do you think," said one clergy to the other, "we should just put up a sign that says, ’Bridge Out’ instead?"

The priest (v. 14). Christ our priest has gone to heaven (see Acts 1:9–11). Let’s keep trusting in Him.
The perfection (v. 15). This priest understands our weaknesses, failures, sicknesses, and troubles. Not only does He understand, He is also eager to help us.
The praying. We should come boldly to the Lord. Here we will find grace and help in time of need (cf. Jer. 33:3; 1 Peter 5:7).

Supplication (v. 7). “Yet while Christ was here on earth he pleaded with God, praying with tears and agony of soul to the only one who would save him from [premature] death. And God heard his prayers because of his strong desire to obey God at all times” (LB).
Surrender (v. 8). Though Christ was the Son of God, yet He was obedient (see Phil. 2:8). This led to His suffering and death.
Salvation (v. 9). Through His perfection He brought eternal salvation (John 3:16).
Supernatural (v. 10). He is above all Old Testament priests. He is the perfect priest (see Phil. 2:9–11).
