Hebrews 11:7; (Genesis 6)
Introduction
Abel taught us the way of faith.
Enoch taught to walk by faith.
Noah teaches us that true faith works.
James 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
Satan will deceive you about faith.
Satan will try to convince you that you have to do good works to keep your salvation – legalism.
Satan will try to convince you that since you are saved by faith you can forget good works – license.
True faith…
Trusts in the way of faith – salvation
Continues in the walk of faith – sanctification
Participates in the work of faith – service
What can we learn from Noah and his faith?
1A. Noah was Mindful of the Word of God. (11:7a)
1B. True faith is rooted in God’s Word.
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith is our response to God’s Word.
Ø No word - no faith.
2B. True faith obeys God without question. (Genesis 6:22)
Matthew 4:19-20 And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
Matthew 9:9 As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him.

2 Corinthians 6:2 … Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Most people did not prepare for the coming day of judgment. (Matthew 24:36-39)
Ø They were indifferent. (24:38)
Ø They were ignorant. (24:39)
3B. Noah and his family
Ø He shared his faith with his family.
Ø He showed his faith to his family.
Ø He saw his family come to faith.
Little boy comes to his Dad wants to know about the Ark. Father laughs at Noah, discourages his son.
Ø Is your family in the Ark?
3A. Noah was Mighty in his Service to God. (11:7c)
1B. Noah and his forecast, he “condemned the world”
He warned the world with his words.
2 Peter 2:5 …Noah, … a preacher of righteousness…
He warned the world with his work.
Ø Men always sin against the light they have.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
2B. Noah and his faithfulness
It was a waiting faith
Ø He preached and worked for 120 years.
It was an unwavering faith
Ø Noah stood for God in an ungodly day.
Ø We need to get our eyes off the crowd and on the cross.
4A. Noah was Marked as a Child of God. (11:7d)
1B. He received true righteousness. (Genesis 6:9)
2B. He received a reward.
He inherited the entire earth.
Revelation 21:7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
Application
The Ark is a picture of Christ (Genesis 6)
1B. The substance of the ship – “gopher wood” (6:14)
This was indestructible wood.
Represents Christ’s humanity
2B. The safety of the ship – “pitch” (6:14)
Noah was to coat it inside and out to make it water tight
Pictures the blood atonement of Christ
3B. The size of the ship – 3 million cubic feet (6:15)
Ample room for all it was intended to carry.

God controlled the door.
Noah controlled the window.
The three stories remind us that Christ meets every need of man; body, soul, and spirit.

Jesus is all we need.

It was secure because of who provided it.
It was secure because of who was present in it.
It was secure because of who was presiding over it.
