Thesis: Shalom is found in God’s presence (tent) and Jesus is the only one who can bring us into God’s presence to experience shalom. Today, God is calling you to be brought into fellowship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Introduction: Invited into God’s living room. (analogy)

Story of two friends, two fathers.
There is nothing in this world that will satisfy nor bring true peace. Only God, your Creator, can fill this need you have.
The story of scripture is the story of God bringing us into His presence by coming to us. Jesus fulfills the promises of God’s intention to dwell with us and is guarantee that we will one day find perfect joy in His presence.
Walk through the Old Testament story
We discussed Creation...
Abraham, Israel, Tabernacle, Temple
Read & Explain - Promise: Isaiah 2:2-5

1. Jesus Dwells with Us

A. Jesus cam to from God to dwell with us and bring shalom. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14
Christianity is the only major religion where God comes to us. God has come to us and in a way comes to you again, today.

Transition: Why did Jesus come to dwell with us?

B. Foundation of Shalom: Jesus Came to Make Peace Between God and Man.
Col. 1:20-22
Romans 5:1-11
Jesus is the New Adam who reverses the loss of shalom that Adam allowed. (Romans 5:12-19)
This peace was necessary to have fellowship with a just God.
C. Shalom Right Now! Jesus Brings us Into Joyous Fellowship with the Triune God, the Source of Shalom
1 John 1:1-4
Joy is sourced in fellowship with God.
John 10:10 - “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
D. Perfect Shalom is Coming!
Revelation 21:1-5
When God is done, He will rid the world of all that Adam ushered in, by bringing His Tent to the Earth.
All who have rejected Jesus will not enjoy shalom. For God to provide shalom in his living room he must judge those in opposition to His purpose and reign.

2. Challenge/Questions

Do you long for peace, shalom?
How are you going to get it?
Shalom is found in right relationship to King Jesus, who reigns. What have you done with Jesus?
You can experience shalom, in part, right now?
