A World of Joy Life in a New World February 14, 2021 All the tax collectors and sinners were approaching to listen to him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."3 So he told them this parable: 4 "What man among you, who has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open field and go after the lost one until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, 6 and coming home, he calls his friends and neighbors together, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep! ' 7 I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don't need repentance. -- Luke 15:1-7 (CSB) Definition of JOY ________________________ ________________________ __________________________ Three True Statements 1. Some of God's Sheep are Lost a. Lost people are created in God's Image b. God has a claim on every human heart, and no amount of sin and rebellion can ever cancel that claim. 2. God Wants His Lost Sheep Found a. They must understand they are truly lost. b. You must go where the lost sheep are they won't come to you 3. Someone Must Go After God's Lost Sheep a. This sort of love requires a serious personal commitment b. Emphasis on Joy 1. Shepard rejoices when finding sheep 2. People rejoice when sheep are found ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ God cares for sinners one at a time Jesus was called the friend of sinners (Luke 7:34). Would anyone say that about you? www.mybayshore.church www.mybayshore.church www.mybayshore.church
