Welcome Him

I. Don’t Judge or Despise him

II. Don’t Hinder or Destroy Him

A. He is Your Brother for whom Christ Died

If you persuade him to violate his conscience, you defile him
If you persuade him to violate his conscience, you fail to practice brotherly love
If you persuade him to violate his conscience, you destroy him.
What kind of destruction? it is not eternal destruction, but the ruining of his spiritual walk with God.
Because only God can destroy the soul in hell
Because it is inconsistent with Paul’s early statement of eternal security
Because “destroy” can mean quite a few things.
If you persuade him to violate his conscience, your good things are spoken of as evil.

B. The Kingdom is more important than food.

This does not mean that there is no food or drink in the Kingdom.
Matthew 8:11 NKJV
And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 26:26–29 NKJV
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
2. This does mean that the Kingdom of God is more important than what you eat and drink right now.
3. This does mean that what is important is Righteousness, Peace, and Joy.

C. To Serve Christ, be acceptable to God, and Approved by men.

We should pursue peace and edification
We should not destroy the Work of God for food
It is wrong to cause someone to stumble for food.

D. Know when to keep silence to protect others.

Because insisting on your rights gives you reason to judge your self over something you should approve of.
Because the one who thinks it is wrong condemns himself
Because whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
