A reason why we can have confidence that God the father will give us eternal life is because we have the same Holy spirit that Jesus had.

We will be given life. This life is not what we have now, it will be given. The verse before this one explains this

Right now we have mortal bodies that will die, but if we have the spirit, the spirit will give us life after death. We die because of our earthly bodies, but will we will live again because we have the spirit.
