Outside of Jesus, who is your favorite Bible character? For most this may seem like an impossible question to answer. In just the first book of the bible there are many great characters. But with the exception of Abraham who is the father of Issac who Troy spoke of two weeks ago, no one is talked about more than Joseph the favorite son of Jacob.
The story of Joseph is told throughout the pages of the last 13 chapters of the book of Genesis. Because we know that all scriptures is given by the inspiration of God, there is no doubt that God would not waste space recording the stories of Joseph unless they were profitable for us to learn from today.
Although it would be impossible for us to examine all the lessons that there are to be learned from the life of Joseph, this morning, keeping with our theme for this year, I want us to reexamine some of the most popular life events of Joseph and see how they can help us to know Jesus our savior better.
The first story and maybe the most popular is found in Genesis chapter 37. Joseph and the coat of many colors.
