Introduction

Today, we are looking at part 4 of the series on “The Abundant Life” - If you’re living the abundant life that Jesus came to bring us, then you have to be walking in the Spirit; if you’re walking in the Spirit, you’ll have the fruit of the Spirit in your life.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve looked at an overview, then dived into “Walking In Love”, “Walking With Joy” and today we will look at “Walking With Peace”.
If you look around for no time at all, you’ll easily see that the world is longing for peace - peace of mind, inner peace, and world peace.
There will never be peace without the Prince of Peace though!
People look for peace in a pill bottle, or a liquor bottle, and the more people seem to seek peace, the less they find!
This world thinks of peace being the absence of war, but peace is the presence of Jesus! Peace is harmony with God!
Let’s look at a few things concerning peace from the Bible:

Peace From Above

John 14:27 AV
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
We see here that Jesus desires for each of us to have peace.
Peace is a gift to us!
John 16:33 AV
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Notice the contrast in this verse! In Christ there is peace; in the world there is tribulation! Peace only comes from above! You will not, and cannot find it in this world!
If you are saved, then you are in Christ, and if you’re in Christ, you can overcome the world and everything that’s in it!

Peace With God Is Available

Romans 5:1 AV
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
We can have peace with God; it’s available to everyone, but it only comes through Jesus Christ!

Peace Is Available Through Jesus Christ

Sin Separated us from God

Sin created hostility between us and God, it created a conflict.
Romans 5:12 AV
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
But listen now,

Jesus Came To Make Peace

Colossians 1:20 AV
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Think about this, guilt is the number one thing that robs us of peace, but Jesus died to remove guilt.
Religion will put guilt back into your life, religion will tell you that in order for you to guilt-free, you have to follow a bunch of rules, sacraments, and rituals.
Christ made us free though from the guilt of sin when He conquered death and sin.
Jesus gives us the gift of peace through His sacrifice! He came to make peace between us and God!

Peace For Within

Peace Is A Grace Of The Holy Spirit

Peace is a character created by the Holy Spirit, and only the Holy Spirit can give the believer God-given peace!
Romans 15:13 AV
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

God’s Peace Is Beyond Description

Philippians 4:6–7 AV
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Be careful for nothing; that means don’t worry! I think it’s interesting that the word worry comes from a German word that means “to choke”...

God’s Peace Is Sustained By The Word of God

Isaiah 26:3 AV
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Psalm 119:165 AV
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

God’s Peace Will Rule Your Heart

Colossians 3:15 AV
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
