“Fame Gone Crazy”*

Truth: Every person has a need to be _________                  .

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

     Genesis 2:18

·        This is the desire within you to feel like people know _________________

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."

Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked.

"Come and see," said Philip.

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false."

"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked.

Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."

Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."

                                                                                   John 1:43-49

·        Many people get confused and think that being “known” means being ____________________.

And David became famous after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

         2 Samuel8:13

Question: How is it that you are getting your “known” need met?

·        Let people know the ______________ you and get to know the ________________ them.

Share each other's troubles and problems, and so obey our Lord's command.

Galatians 6:2 – The Living Bible

·        Seek to know ________________.

This is what the LORD says:

"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom

or the strong man boast of his strength

or the rich man boast of his riches,

but let him who boasts boast about this:

that he understands and knows me . . .

                       Jeremiah 9:23-24

No longer will a man teach his neighbor,

or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,'

because they will all know me,

from the least of them to the greatest,"

 declares the LORD.

"For I will forgive their wickedness

and will remember their sins no more."

                           Jeremiah 31:34

Truth: Every person has a need to be _______________- to leave a legacy

They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the road?"  But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.

   Mark 9:33-34

·        Some people leave a __________________ legacy.

Remember Lot's wife!

  Luke 17:32-33

The wise inherit honor,

but fools he holds up to shame.

   Proverbs 3:35

Question: How is it that you are trying to meet your need to be remembered?

When there is a man who has labored with wisdom, knowledge and skill, then he gives his legacy to one who has not labored with them. This too is vanity and a great evil.

                                                                                    Ecclesiastes 2:20-21

You can leave behind a positive legacy in two ways:

1.      __________________ people to God

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

                                                                                               2 Timothy 1:5

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

                                   2 Timothy 3:14-15

2.      _________________ others to do the __________________

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

                                                                                               2 Timothy 2:2
