So the way this is going to work is we will look at some different passages together & then
pray specifically what the Lord is speaking to us about from His Word.
Our first passage comes from Psalm 51:1-10
Looking at this passage it is plain to see that David (the author) is calling out to God in a
heart of repentance for sin that was called out in his life.
Steps of repentance that David is taking here…confession (agreeing with God about his sin),
change of mind & heart which leads to a change of direction, action & behavior and then
as you turn away from your sin you turn to God to experience his love, grace & forgiveness.
Pray for forgiveness, agreeing with God about every sin that you are aware of. Asking the
Spirit to search your heart. Look at 1 John 1:9 and trusting that Jesus will wash you clean.
Our next passage we want to look at together comes from Eph. 1:17-20
Paul’s prayer is an intercessory prayer for the Ephesians that by God’s Spirit that they may
know Him more, having a detailed comprehension of who He is that it would motivate us to
live powerfully for Him in the here and now – today! Let us pray for each other in this way.
Pray for a deep desire to know God above all else. Asking Him for a hunger in your soul for
His Word.
Turning to the Word in John 17 let’s look at Jesus’s last prayer before He went to the cross. He
prayers for His current disciples and also us. It is prayer for us to live a marked life, different
from the norms of society. Looking at John 17:14-17
Pray for strength to live differently than the world, going against the grain of society.
This next prayer moment is partially a selfish request that is rooted in purpose of sincerity
Turn in your Bibles to Eph. 6:19-20. Here we see Paul asking the church to pray for him.
Pray for yourselves, pray for your pastor, pray for your church.
