what is depression?

persistent feelings of sadness, worthlessness, and lack of intrest.

Is there depression in the bible?

In the story of Job, he lost everything, kids, possessions, health, but yet he still never cursed God or blame him. Any of those things would make any of us deeply sad and depressed.
it mentions that even Jesus wept when everyone was grieving the death of Lazarus, we all have these emotions even Jesus
The story of Elijah, bringing fire down showing he serves the one true God.
1 Kings 19:4–6 NIV
4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” 6 He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.
v.4
Life has highs and lows, and as in a mountain range, the lows often come right after the highs. Like Elijah, we may scale the heights of spiritual victory only to soon find ourselves in the dark valley of depression.
While certain forms of clinical depression should be professionally treated, many depressed feelings are part of life’s ups and downs.
Like Elijah, we should listen for God’s “still small voice” to comfort us.
v.5-6
Depression can drain energy, twist values, and assault one’s faith.
Depression can affect anyone.
God provided care to Elijah on many levels. He provided food so that Elijah regained his physical and emotional strength. An angel touched Elijah, confirming to Elijah that he was not alone. Also, twice, God encouraged Elijah to rest.
Isaiah 41:10 NIV
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
The process of overcoming depression may take time, but we can be sure that God is with us each step of the way to support, encourage, and love us—even when we feel alone and hopeless.
Psalm 30:5 NIV
5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:11–12 NIV
11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

No one is immune to discouragement and heartache. We may wish that life were carefree, but we won’t experience it while we are on earth. All of us experience seasons of loss, but God meets us in our pain and sooner or later restores our joy.

Psalm 34:18 NIV
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

we need to trust in God no matter what we go through in life and know that he is in control and even thought it looks bad and hopeless God can and will turn it around for the the good of those who love him
Revelation 21:4–5 NIV
4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
He says they are trustworthy and true that one day, the day we get to be with him we will no longer have any more pain or sorrow, as long as we put our hope and trust in him we will find these things true,
But while we are here on earth know that you are not alone, God always with you. Katerina and i are here for you guys also, for whatever you guys need, if you need someone to talk to or be there for you, you are not alone, sadness and depression are real but you dont have to go through it alone.
